Which is the best time to get Pregnant?

Pregnancy occurs when a sperm fertilizes an egg after it’s released from the ovary during ovulation. The fertilized egg then travels down into the uterus, where implantation occurs. A successful implantation results in pregnancy. The possibilities of a woman getting pregnant apart from the ovulation period are very low.

How can one understand the right time for planning a baby?

There are 5 methods for this:

1] Calendar Method – If a woman has a normal menstrual cycle of about 28 days then approximately then she will be ovulating on the 14th or 15th day. If a woman’s menstrual cycle is of 30 days then the 16th day is the ovulation day. Fertile days are the days when the woman is ovulating and five days prior to that. These six days are the fertile days and are the best time to plan a baby.

2] Basal Body Temperature – Basal body temperature is the lowest body temperature attained during rest. It is usually estimated by a temperature measurement immediately after awakening and before any physical activity has been undertaken. Women can track their BBT to find out when they are ovulating as the temperature rises during ovulation. With this timeline, a woman can learn when she is most and least likely to become pregnant.

3] Cervical Mucus Assessment – When a woman is going to ovulate she experiences a discharge from the cervix. During this time the discharge is watery and sticky. The cervix tends to stretch a bit during ovulation.

4] Ovulation Kits – The LH (luteinizing hormone) levels in a woman’s body increases during ovulation. It can be checked through urine and the ovulation kit. There are two lines on the ovulation kit; test line and control line. When the LH level increases in the woman’s body the test line becomes darker. These days there are several fancy ovulation kits easily available in the market.

5] Follicular Monitoring – Follicular monitoring is the process of a series of ultrasound monitoring of the ovarian follicles to evaluate for mutation of eggs & documenting the pathway to ovulation.

These are the top 5 techniques that will help you to understand your ovulation period and plan a baby likewise.
