Keratin is a basic protein that makes up our hair, skin and, nails. You might be aware of some natural ways for effective hair growth like using apple cider vinegar, yoghurt, eggs or even applying onion juice. But firstly one must always take a look at the internal nutrition.  

Hair growth cycle begins at the anagen stage, this is the phase where the hair starts growing and that is why it is called the growth phase. The stage is the catagen phase, it is a transitional phase between the first and the last stage. The third stage is the telogen phase, if a person faces this face too early in their life, excessive shedding and noticeable thinning of hair is caused. Hair loss, hair thinning or any other problem related to the hair occurs only when the hair growth cycle is disrupted. According to ayurveda, keshya (hair) is an accessory tissue of asti dhatu (bony tisuue). So if a person has decreased in asti dhatu he experiences hair related problems. So medications are given accordingly to balance this dhatu. 

It is absolutely normal to lose a few strands of hair everyday, but if you experience a lot of hair loss then you need to follow these 5 ways/ tips to improve the quality of your hair and reduce the hair fall. 

1] Biotin – Consumption of Biotin which is a water soluble Vitamin which is also known as Vitamin B7. Biotin helps in converting the nutrients we get from food into blood and giving us energy. Now the biotin we get through food is enough to get the benefits it has to offer but to effectively stop hair fall one needs to increase the biotin rich food intake in their diet. The best way is to include foods like tomatoes, spinach, walnuts, raisins, bananas, mushrooms, etc.  

2] Omega- 3 Fatty Acids – Consumption of fish oil which contains Omega-3 fatty acids. These acids nourish our hair directly at the scalp and the follicle where each hair piece is connected. It is extracted from fishes like salmon and mackerel. Now if a person is a vegetarian, he/ she can include flaxseeds in their diet as even these contain a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids. 

3] Zinc – Zinc is a vital mineral for healthy hair. This is the element that keeps the hormone levels regulated which is why it is very helpful in reducing baldness or stopping hair hair loss. It is such an element is not available in required amounts in vegetables and fruits, so one can use multi- vitamin or multi- mineral instead. A dosage of 11mg of zinc is the daily requirement but to effectively fight hair loss, a dose of 40-50mg is necessary for at least 2 weeks. Make sure you do not exceed 100mg of zinc as this will increase DHT hormones in the body. 

4] Iron –  It is very essential for overall health, growth and wellness of the body since iron carries oxygen to the roots. Best to intake iron is by including spinach, pumpkin squash or lentils in your diet. 

5] Vitamin C – We know that it is available in amla, oranges and tomatoes. It helps in building collagen which is highly essential for hair growth. 

Follow these 5 tips along with massaging your scalp with warm oil once in three days or at least once a week. Once you do this you will experience that the quality of your hair has improved in the fourth week and the hair loss has drastically reduced by the tenth or twelfth week.
