DIET AND SUPPLEMENTS FOR INFERTILITY AND WEIGHT LOSS|

A strong body and healthy nutrition is very important for both males and females to achieve fertility. It is even more important for females as they have to carry the baby in their womb/ uterus for nine months. The environment in the uterus has to be good hence she needs to be very careful about her nutrition.
The level of testosterone hormone decreases in males who have gained a lot of weight or are obese, and due to hormonal imbalance the sperm count and motility also weakens. Hence they have chances of having infertility. In females, even if they lose 5% of their body weight their fertility improves but the females who are underweight suffer from infertility. Now 18.5 to 24.9 is the normal BMI (body mass index) and the females who are underweight have BMI below 18.5. Such females suffer from ovulatory infertility which means day by day and week by week they experience irregular periods and there might be a point where they may experience no ovulation. And we all know that if there is no ovulation then one can not experience pregnancy.
DIET:-
In 25% cases of ovulatory infertility, where there is no ovulation, iron supplements or iron rich foods like lentils, spinach, eggs, whole grains and cereals are very beneficial. Along with these, if one consumes Vitamin C rich foods and citrus fruits like lemon, orange or amla, then the body’s absorption rate of iron increases. Make sure you completely avoid trans fat. Trans fat means oily and junk food. Instead of which one can consume mono-unsaturated fats like olive oil, avocados, omega-3 fatty acids, etc. These fats will help you with the infertility issue. Also one must decrease the intake of animal protein and instead they must consume plant protein. Similarly instead of consuming skimmed or low – fat dairy milk one must consume high fat dairy milk as it is a good source of calcium. Consuming fiber rich foods like apples, bananas or oranges also helps a lot. Last but most important remedy is to consume folic acid, it is advised as a pre-pregnancy supplement as it is considered to be the pregnancy hero. Folic acid consumption helps in the baby’s normal growth and development.
